School Trust Lands

Managing Trust Lands Efficiently and Sustainably

A lightly forested area that is regenerating lots of new growth.
The School Trust Lands provide revenue through sustainable timber management and are used for hunting, fishing, trapping, protection of water quality and biological diversity, aesthetics and outdoor recreation.

All school trust lands are open to the public for hunting, fishing, trapping, berry picking and hiking. Snowmobile and ATV riding is allowed on designated trail networks operated by the local county Note: some school trust lands are surrounded by private property and we urge visitors to respect private property rights by requesting permission to cross private lands to access them. With this powerful new tool, the agency has the ability to increase its productive timberland, ensure protection of unique natural areas, and enhance public access to Trust Lands.
